At the British Section, education is not confined to the classroom. Our enrichment programme is designed to challenge pupils to be curious about the world around them, engage with global issues, support local initiatives, and make a positive difference to their communities.
 

Exploration: Trips & Residential Visits

Learning is often best achieved when standing in the very places where history happened.

• Primary: Local day trips and residential stays to local museums, potteries and historical sites complement our topic-based curriculum.
• Secondary: From geography field trips in Rotterdam to historical tours of medieval castles and literary pilgrimages to London, these visits build curiosity, knowledge and understanding, and deepen the bonds within the Section community.
   

The Power of Voice: Debating & MUN

The ability to research new topics, critically evaluate different perspectives, construct a logical argument and deliver it with poise is a life-long skill that forms a central part of a British Section education.

• The Debating Society: One of our most popular secondary activities. Pupils learn the British parliamentary style of debate, competing in an annual League that reaches its grand finale in an open-air tournament in April/May. It is an ideal arena for sharpening wit and critical thinking.
• Model United Nations (MUN): Our students regularly participate in MUN conferences across Europe. Representing different nations, they research complex geopolitical issues, draft resolutions, and practise the art of high-level diplomacy and negotiation.
   

Creative Expression: Theatre & Performance

Theatre is a vital part of the British Section’s cultural life, providing an outlet for creativity and teamwork.

• Shakespeare Workshops: A highlight of the Primary and Middle School calendar, where pupils bring the Bard’s works to life, often with a modern or bilingual twist.
• Upper School Productions: From contemporary plays to classic dramas, our lycée students take the lead in acting, directing, and technical production (lighting, sound, and stage management).
• Poetry by Heart: Choose a Poem, Learn it, Recite it. Pupils in collège and lycée compete to identify the finalists who will represent the British Section at the inter-school finals held in Paris each year.
   

Intellectual Curiosity: Masterclasses & Speakers

We frequently welcome external experts to stretch our students' thinking beyond the standard curriculum.

• Guest Speaker Series: We invite authors, historians, scientists, and diplomats to share their insights. Recent visitors have included award-winning novelists and experts in international relations.
• Subject Masterclasses: Designed for our Lycée students, these online evening sessions, run in conjunction with British universities, offer the opportunity for students to delve into At the British Section, education is not confined to the classroom. Literature & Literacy: Book Clubs

With access to a collection of over 20,000 English titles, our libraries are the heart of our enrichment.

• Book Clubs: These groups allow pupils to share their love of reading in an informal setting. Discussions range from the latest young fiction releases to classic Victorian literature.
• Shadowing the Carnegie Medal: Our students regularly participate in "shadowing" major UK book awards, reading the shortlisted titles and voting on their own winners.
