British educational excellence across a network of French state schools

The British Section is unique in its "hub and spoke" model. While our administrative centre is at the Lycée International de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, our pupils are educated across a network of French state schools.

This structure ensures that our pupils are not isolated in an international bubble; instead, they are woven into the fabric of French society while maintaining an uncompromisingly British academic identity.
 

The Lycée International (The hub)

The Lycée International serves as the central campus for all fourteen international sections. It is here that our Upper School (lycée) students are based and where many of our Primary and Middle School (collège) classes take place.

It is more than just a school building; it is a multicultural crossroads where British Section pupils interact daily with peers from the Spanish, German, Japanese and many other sections.
 

Our Partner Schools (The spokes)

To enable us to serve our growing community, the British Section has expanded into several “Partner Schools" (Ecoles rattachées) enabling pupils to benefit from the same hallmark bilingual education closer to their homes.

Primary Level (maternelle & élémentaire)

Our Primary pupils attend one of the following schools for their French curriculum, with British Section teachers arriving on-site to deliver our English-language programme:

• Ecole maternelle Jehan Alain (Le Pecq): A bright, attractive nursery school just a few minutes walk from the École Félix Éboué primary school and Collège Pierre et Marie Curie.
• Ecole élémentaire Félix Éboué (Le Pecq): A friendly primary school situated on the banks of the river Seine with pleasant leafy grounds and easy access to and use of the neighbouring sports fields and gymnasium.
   

The Externé System

Much like the partner schools, the Externé (External) programme enables us to accommodate more bilingual children in primary than would normally be the case at the Lycée International primary school. Under this arrangement, children attend their local French state primary school for much of the week, travelling to the Lycée International primary school for two half-days per week to join their British Section peers for English language and literacy lessons. This allows children to integrate into their local community and still benefit from the dual curriculum.
 

Middle School Level (collège)

As pupils move into their secondary years, they may be based at the main Lycée International campus at the Collège International or at one of our dedicated partner collèges:

• Collège Les Hauts Grillets (Saint-Germain-en-Laye): A French, state-funded middle school for girls and boys aged 11-15, which hosts five international sections: Chinese, German, Italian, Polish in addition to the British Section. The school is located a short walk from the Lycée International site.
• Collège Pierre et Marie Curie (Le Pecq): A high-achieving local middle school that hosts a significant portion of our British Section collège pupils, as well as a Portuguese section, offering a seamless transition from our Nursery and Primary partner schools in Le Pecq.
   

Upper School Level (lycée)

All upper school students spend their final three secondary years (UK Years 11, 12 and 13) at the main Lycée International campus with students from 13 other international sections.
 

A Cohesive Community

Regardless of which school your child attends, they are a full member of the British Section. We ensure parity and cohesion through:

• A single British Section curriculum: The same high-quality British curriculum and UK-qualified teachers across all sites.
• Cross-Site Events: Shared sports events, drama productions, and social events that bring the whole Section together.
• The British Section Parents' Association (BSPA) and Parent-Teacher Group (PTG): A single, unified association that supports families across each of the schools in our network.
