Our Community

The British Section is more than school within a school; it is a vibrant, cross-cultural community of over 800 pupils and their families.

Moving to a new country or navigating a dual-education system can be a challenge, and our community exists to ensure that no family does it alone.

The Home-School Partnership

Parents are at the very heart of our Section and school network, creating a unique atmosphere of shared investment in our children's success.

The British Section Parent Association (BSPA)

Made up of a board of 12 elected Governors, the BSPA is a non-profit organisation that supports the British Section and employs its staff. All parents with children in the British Section are automatically members.

What does the BSPA do?

• Funds the Section through annual parent contributions, covering staff salaries, resources, and activities
• Recruits teachers and support staff
• Works with school leadership to help shape the Section’s direction
• Represents parents’ interests with local authorities and schools
• Supports student life through extracurricular activities
• Builds community by connecting parents across all sites

The British Section Parent-Teacher Group (PTG)

Every parent with a child in the Section is also automatically a member of the Parent-Teacher Group. This volunteer-led body is the social glue of our school.

• Welcoming New Families: the PTG team provides a warm welcome for newcomers, helping you navigate everything from finding a local doctor to understanding the nuances of the French school canteen.
• Social Events: From the traditional Christmas Fair and Quiz Nights to coffee mornings and the annual Summer Fête, the PTG team ensures that parents have as much of a social life as the pupils.
• Supporting Education: the PTG team raises vital funds for the “cherry-on-top” extras such as visiting authors, theatre workshops, and enhanced library resources.

Alumni & Beyond

The "Spirit of St Germain" doesn't end at graduation. Our alumni network spans the globe, with former pupils studying and working in London, Paris, New York, and beyond.

University Mentoring: Recent graduates often return to share their experiences of the university and professional application processes with our current Lycée students and take part in our Masterclass programme.

A Lifelong Network: The bonds formed while navigating the rigours of the BFI are incredibly strong and enduring. Our former students remain a source of professional and personal support for one another long after they leave Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
