A British Telephone Box for the Lycée International

After 120 years of Entente Cordiale, we wanted to offer something suitably substantial to the Lycée International – and at 750 kilos, it was the heaviest thing we could find!

But this remarkable British telephone box is about much more than its impressive weight. It is a symbol of communication and the understanding that comes with it – values that lie at the heart of our international school community and of the education we provide our children.

Like so many telephone boxes in the UK, this one is no longer a working telephone. But far from being obsolete, its new purpose represents renewal. It will be equipped with bookshelves and transformed into an international book exchange, continuing its original function of bringing people together through communication, knowledge and understanding.

The telephone box now stands majestically at the heart of the Lycée International, a fitting reflection of the central place of the British Section within our international community.

We are hugely grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible, particularly those who donated so generously towards the purchase of this wonderful piece of British history.

We look forward to seeing our telephone box take on its new role – and to continuing the warm partnership between the British Section and the Lycée International for many years to come.
